Providence

rain 80 °F

Another great trip to Providence. Well, that is if you don’t count the 4 out of 6 days of bad weather we had. The rain dampened (pun intended) our fun, but we just bought a couple umbrellas and went on our merry way. We stayed at 2 different hotels (last year it was 3) so we are getting better at reserving rooms earlier. The first place was nice, it was a historic building with 5 floors and no elevators, we were on the 3rd floor so no big deal. The hotel was a 10/15 minute walk from downtown Providence so that was inconvenient especially with the poor weather. We enjoyed our stay there but we won’t stay there again because of the location. The 2nd hotel was in the heart of downtown and we’ve stayed there before so all was good. The highlight of the trip was spending time with Chad and hearing his stories about the different surgeries he’s been able to watch. We took a day trip to Boston and walked the streets, viewed the sights and ate well. Actually, we ate well all week, the northeast has the best Italian food so we indulged - but all is under control because we walked a lot. I love this picturesque city and are already looking forward to our next visit.

Miami

This is our second trip to Miami and loved it, even more, this time. We celebrated Thanksgiving here for the second year and we are already planning on spending Thanksgiving here next year. I love the boardwalk, the beaches, the food and the atmosphere here. Another great vacation!

Tampa

We enjoyed Tampa, it's smaller than we expected but it was nice to spend a couple of days here before we head to Miami. The weather was great but the Thanksgiving holiday was about to begin so a lot of travelers on the train to Miami. Amtrak was not prepared for all the travelers so the train was late and the ride was awful. Once again we are amazed that this country does not put forth a decent/safe train system.

La Palma

This was probably our favorite Island. We didn’t see the beaches (read that they were black sand beaches) but the city was beautiful. The buildings with their colorful exteriors, yet the cobblestone streets were very old town European. Lovely city for a visit.

Gran Canaria

We enjoyed our time here, reminded us a bit of Hermosa beach. Apartments everywhere and a beautiful strand to walk along the beach. The beach was nice and very European. I’m just saying, the Europeans are not self-conscious of their body, which is a good thing, but still, a little more clothing isn’t a bad thing.
